Turning Courtrooms into Classrooms
The Wade Edwards High School Mock Trial Competition is a state-wide educational program that provides an opportunity for students to learn about the U.S. legal system from legal professionals.

In mock trials at courthouses across the state, students take on the roles of attorneys, witnesses, bailiffs, courtroom artists and journalists, creating a lively and realistic courtroom drama. As part of this interactive learning experience, local attorneys volunteer to work alongside teacher coaches, advising student teams as they prepare for competition. No outside research is necessary because all case materials and rules of evidence are provided. Regional competitions take place on a Saturday in 10 cities throughout NC. Check out which law firms are sponsoring the regional near you. This hands-on approach is a fun and effective way for students to learn about the judicial process and the fundamental importance of the jury system. High schools, teen courts, youth groups and home school groups are welcome to participate in this program.
